19.Oct.2011 Car photography one-oh-one!

Before and after editing photos of my new 2012 Hyundai Veloster.  Shot with a NikonD300 with Sigma 10-20mm and SB-24 on 1/16th power inside of the car for light.

This is who I am

This summer, my good friend asked me. “What have you learned about yourself this year while you’ve been single?”. I originally sat in the car with no answer and he then said “That much, huh!?” because I had to put thought into HOW MUCH I learned about myself.

This year has been a ROLLER COASTER of emotions. Straight up exhaustion mixed with excitement, happiness mixed with sadness. I learned this year that I can do absolutely anything I put my mind to.

So I was at work this morning thinking about this more (it has often become a normal subject on my mind) and there is one thing I have indefinitely realized… I am, who I am. Nothing is changing that. Dating has been tough, but you know what.. love me for who I am, god damn it!

I then thought about shooting, and realized that 90% of my photos I have been showered, had my hair and make up done, and truly tried to model for my photos. But, at the end of the day… That really isn’t me.

So… this is who I am. I am a horse chick. I eat, sleep, breathe, and dream horses. I wear a baseball hat- every day. I wear some of the most stupid outfits, including polka dot boots, and socks with flip flops in the summer. Most nights, i’d rather sit in the barn with a horse then at a dinner table with a man. I love them, they MAKE me. At the end of the day, they never break my heart or talk back to me. Okay, maybe toes get broken, but bones are much more repairable then a hurt heart or soul.

06.Sep.2011 It’s raining, it’s pouring.

This summer… wow.  I can’t even begin to describe how this summer was!  It went SO FAST!  Between the horse shows, photography, design… everything… just… WOW!

So now that I am trying to get back into the game… here is Project 52 shot for the week of September 9th.  The title doesn’t have any hidden innuendos, just that it is, well, raining!

24.May.2011 Hidden Hollow Farm

This coming September one of my best friends, Laura, is getting married.  The reception is to take place at her beautiful facility in Pennsylvania, where guests get to see horses grazing in back fields while dancing the night away in celebrations.

Being the friend I am (I mean, c’mon, I’m not ONLY the photographer, I have to do more!) I also have been working on a logo for her.  This is our logo we’ve decided on, which will be printed on things such as invitations, for the wedding.

17.May.2011 “Balance”

For 2011, I started a personal project, which I am titling my “52 Project”.  This project is to be a once a week photography challenge to myself.  My rules?  For one, I have to use myself as the model.  Secondly, every shot has to use some form of Flash Photography.

I am now close to 6 months into the project and figured it is about time to blog about it and post some of the photos.  Also being near 6 months into it I had a realization… I am learning… a lot!  6 months ago it took me hours to get the photo I wanted, from fiddling with lighting to setting everything up.  Now, I come up with an idea and go into my bag and pull out exactly what I need, and get the shot pretty quickly.

Enjoy this shot, taken May 16th.

“Balance”

Ever wish you could do more then one thing at a time? That’s me. Every day. Finding a balance between work, photography, being on the road horse showing, and personal life- it is a constant struggle.
